2014 Ruska

This residency was planned at the end of Summer, to have a change to see the beautifull autumn colours, ruska in Finnish.
To have a better view we took a trip north. We drove from Kemijärvi to Inari.

The next day we went from Inari via Lemmenjoki to Levi, because it was still very green in Inari

2014 Kemijärvi

Some images of Kemijärvi and the local landscape.

2014 textiles

During my journey I work on parts of textile objects, which later will be photographed in nature.
I am not sure what the final work will look like, but I made a nice bag full of these pompons.

2014 Mesa project- Pöytä

During a residency period I collect items  specific for the country.  Those items are found on streets, fleemarkets or are given to me by locals. The idea is to make a "mesa", table.
The table and its items are painted in a colour familiar in the country, in Finland the dark reddish colour found on houses and other wooden items. The table is standing on a carpet of pine cones.

2014 Rovaniemi exhibition

A week after the opening in Kemijärvi the second part of the 66 degrees North was on show in Galleria Värinä in Rovaniemi. Here a selection of small format landscape paintings was presented.
The paintings were presented as blocks of smaller paintings. I got a lot of positive feedback and a nice review in the paper. And also met the director of the Korundi museum, she invited me for a visit later that week.

2014 Kemijärvi-exhibition

After picking up the paintings from the winter exhibition in Kuhmo we drove to the residency in Kemijärvi.
Last year I started working on 66 North, photos, paintings and textiles inspired by the arctic landscape.
In the cultural centre of Kemijärvi I had an exhibition Arctic Impressions, showing paintings with an emphasis on structures and details of flowers, plants, lichen and rocks from the northern landscape.

2014 Kuhmo winter exhibition

A bit late, but here an update from my artist in residence and exhibitions in Finland in 2014

Exhibiton of my Kalevala project in Juminkeko in Kuhmo in January.
